BBT 10: Auto mobile Body Styles and Designs part 2 of 2

• Takes about 3 years and they start off with the sketching phase. 
• The Design is called problem solving because they have a criteria they have to follow so that they can come up with something that is aesthetically pleasing. 
• The feasibility stage is taking the sketches that they like and evolving them into something that maintains the theme. 
• Designing an auto mobile would not interest me because i am not goo in designing things at all.

BBT 10: Auto mobile Body Styles and Designs part 1 of 2

1.Trucks- Trucks are made for working. you use a truck when you need to haul or tow something. Trucks have heavy duty suspension to handle a very heavy load.

2. Convertible- Convertible cars are made for driving on nice days and enjoying the open air. People that own convertibles probably use them when they just want to go for a drive and enjoy the scenery.

3. Coupe- Considered sporty and personal, a coupe is a long-running body style in automobile circles. Derived from the days when horse-driven carriages were popular, the term coupe was initially applied to closed carriages without rear-facing seats. Created for an intimate driving feel, coupes provide a broad range of motoring tastes and budgets. Interiors of coupes receive specific design focus around reinforcing the performance feel for driver and front seat passenger. Reasonably comfortable for front row occupants, the limited seating room found on most coupes makes the vehicle type less suitable for families with older children

4. Sedan-A sedan, also called a saloon, is a passenger car with a bonnet covering the engine and a separate trunk for luggage at the back. This is one of the most popular body styles of cars today, with seating for at least four people. A sedan design is also known as a ‘three-box' design.

5. Wagons- Car-based with large in-cabin storage space, the wagon body style delivers a sizable accommodation for passengers and cargo. Derived from a horse-drawn vehicle, the wagon name transitioned to cars exhibiting a heightened level of utility. The name station wagon is often used in reference to automotive wagons following their frequent shuttling of guests between train stations and hotels in the early half of the 20th century. jobs in the Automotive Industry

I think that the job in the automotive industry that I would enjoy the most is the CEO of GM, because I love gm cars and I think I would like to be CEO. This is also a great job because GM is not a tiny company, it's one of the largest companies in the world.
The job in this industry that I would hate the most is probably a classic car restorer. I wouldn't mind to do some odd jobs but to restore an entire car would be very had and stressful.

BBT 10: Careers and Certification in the Automotive Industry Part One of Three

1. High-tech systems not heard of 30 years ago are now standard on a lot of the nation’s vehicles: stability and traction control systems, adaptive cruise control and variable valve timing.

2. Young people should have the skills to work on future cars because newer cars are harder to work on than the older cars.

3. Some advantages are that you can work on your own car when its broke.

One thing that the automotive technician career is fairly "immune" to that has threatened other career is with the outsourcing of jobs picking up steam – first manufacturing jobs, now computer programming, customer call-centre work, and accounting services all going overseas – it should be comforting to know that automotive service and repair is fairly immune to such moves.

7.So many people have started their careers in the automotive after market as an auto technician that it is viewed as something of a portal career.


I think I will enjoy the advantage of being a mechanic, because it gives you a challenge.
One thing I found interesting is all the heavy equipment that mechanics use. I would love to have that garage.
This is necessary because you could save a lot of money by working on your car or truck on your own.
One thing is learn how to work on motors.

Part Two of Two - Tech for the Sake of Tech?

• Yes I found it surprising, because most younger people like to have the latest technology. I do not think this generation will feel the same because our generation has grown up with a lot of technology offered to them so they will probably want very advanced technology when they start driving. I think we will find this option beneficial because eventually when our generation starts driving there will be more people on the road so we will need good technology to navigate around all the people.
• I think it only make it easier for drivers to take more risks because if they didn't have all of these options they would have to actually put the phone down and drive because it would be harder to drive.
• I think they are pretty important for the car to be updated but at the same time it would not matter that much.
• One important technological feature I would like to have would be Bluetooth because that is good when you are driving because you can talk through it hands free making it safer on the road.
• One feature I think introduced in earlier time that they may have thought was useless would be the air bag because some people may not have thought that a bag of air would help much but in times today we would not be able to live without them, they have saved many peoples lives.

Part One of Two - Technologies in Development

I think flying cars are the less likely to happen because you wouldn't need flying cars because there are already air planes. Flying cars would also be hard to control there would be no roads or stop lights so you could get in an accident easily.

The emerging technology I think will have the most impacted on society is Autonomous car (car drive by then self) it will help people that cant drive and any one who is not able to drive. It will help people to get to and from their destination easily.

Out of the six emerging technologies, which is likely to be the first technology used in auto mobiles?) I think the safety features because they will make the road a lot more safe and they will prevent accidents.  

 I think this technology can help keep the driver and passengers safe, because it tells you if you are in to much stress to be driving. If you drive while stressed out you could be in an accident.

My thoughts on this technology is is that flying cars look cool but I don't think people would want to use it.  I think  the benefits and the disadvantages of having an auto mobile that can travel by land and air is that if you want to get some place fast you can fly instead of driving. The disadvantages are that I think it would take up to much room on the roads and could cause accidents.

I stand that I like driving I wouldn't want self driving cars yet maybe when I get older I would.

1911 Electric starter introduced


Charles Kettering introduces the electric starter. Until this time engines had to be started by hand cranking. Critics believed no one could make an electric starter small enough to fit under a car’s hood yet powerful enough to start the engine. His starters first saw service in

1914 First car body made entirely of steel


Dodge introduces the first car body made entirely of steel, fabricated by the Budd Company. The Dodge touring car is made in Hamtramck, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit.

• This point is very interesting because an all steel body would be a great help in the safety of a car. Before without a body in an accident you would be very hurt.                                               

1926 First power steering system


Francis Wright Davis uses a Pierce-Arrow to introduce the first power steering system. It works by integrating the steering linkage with a hydraulics system.

BBT 10- Assignment #2: Privacy Please

• Digital textbooks should replace entirely paper textbooks by 2020 in New Brunswick.

 For: 

1. I think they should be replaced for online access just in case if someone leaves their textbook at school they can go online and get their information.
2. If parents want to see what their children are doing in school, they can go to the online textbook and see. 
3. They will save trees and paper, we can send our old textbooks to people in the world who don't have enough money to buy them for their school. 

Against:

1. If we replace the textbooks with onlines ones, some people don't have the access to get to a computer so they cant use that.
2. The site could crash and there would be no "textbooks" available
3.  Someone could easily hack the site and change anything they wanted to that site and then we wouldnt learn the stuff we are suppose to. 

• Schools in 2020 should be closed and teachers and students should begin learning in virtual classrooms using digital technology at home.

For:

1. I think it would be a good idea because then if you were sick you still wouldn't miss a day.

I found it surprising how helpful Ecuador would be to New Brunswick. I found the information on Ecuador hard to locate. Yes because if their trying to use video chat with a family who is working far away you can still talk to them online. Kinda because you don't know who is going to get the information you post online... and i never really though about it. Yes because when you go to get a job they check all of your websites.Younger people post everything about them selves online so anybody could steal it.

I found it most surprising how different online and offline shopping are from each other. I found Paypal confusing at first but I learned to understand it better.Yes,I found online purchasing easy and reliable.Yes, I've sold something online and it worked out good. Online shopping prices are good so watch out fro the high shipping budget. When ever using KIJIJI deal in a city and don't send money its safer to be their and give it to them. I think the biggest problem with younger people online shopping is that they don't watch the shipping price.

BBT 10- Assignment #2: PayPal

1. PayPal seems to have a lot of safety because it has a lot of products trusting it with its products. 
2. It keeps us safe because it keeps all our information safe and no one can see our bank accounts and personal information. 
3. PayPal does charge the buyers because it charges the sellers, it adds a little bit on to their price and they take their profit off it when they sell it. 
4. When your product doesn't come, PayPal knows so it protects you by not giving your information to that store and your completely safe fro the hackers and the people that just want to steal your money
5. If I owned a company and I needed a place to buy online stuff I would use PayPal because its reliable and people use it all the time.

• the 2 biggest reasons people still shop at stores are because its quicker to go to a store and get the stuff you want if you get it on the internet it could take weeks. Also because you don't know if you can get what you want on-line but you can if you shop at stores.

• I would prefer to shop at stores no on-line because I think it would be quicker and easier.

1. I found most surprising when it comes to issues around Digital Wellness was that people actually text all the time when there driving and think its ok. 
2. I found confusing about this unit was that people still text and drive even if they know it is dangerous. 
3. I think the biggest  issue for young people when it comes to Digital Wellness is that with all the new video games that come out they stay in the house and don't go outside to get fresh air.

• I  find most surprising when it comes to digital rights and responsibilities are having the right to privacy. They are all things we learned before whether we have paid attention to them or not.

 What I found surprising that the maximum period of time you can wait to reply to someone is one week, and by that time by the time you answer its  considered rude. I learned that you are supposed to reply within 24 hours, most people do. I also learned that you should not type in all caps because it makes the person you are talking to think you are yelling  at them and that your loud . Blind Carbon Copy is an email field to which you can add several recipients, and the address is hidden from everyone else.  This can be used when people  forward emails without removing the addresses of previous recipients, which leads to messages that are repeatedly sent to many recipients. Out of this information I think the most important thing young people are to consider is to just think before you send and reply. Like is it good enough? Will they know who you are? How long ago did I receive the messege its  all important because once you send a message, it cannot be unsent so it has to be exactly what you want before you send it.

BBT 10: Digital Communication

1. The definition of Digital Communication is - any electronic exchange of information. 
2. In my opinion some advantages of Digital Communication are: 

•  If you need to get a hold of someone ASAP then Digital Communication can come in handy. 
•  People have friends and family that live far away, and Digital Communication helps them stay in contact with each other. 
•  With Digital Communication, information can be stored and retrieved when needed. 
•  Digital Communication is fast, easy, and convenient for many situations

       3. The three most popular of Digital Communication today are texting, calling, and facebook (posting/messaging). I think these three are the most popular because, well almost everyone from the ages 11 and up have a cell phone, and is pretty much always in reach of its owner, and whenever someone wants to give someone a text or call, the phone is right there for them to use. Or if your bored you could just shoot a friend a text, and get a reply within seconds. Facebook is huge all around the world, and people from all over the place use it for Digital Communication.
        4. Some forms of Digital Communication that I don't think will be around much longer, is Blackberry messenger (BBM), because smart phones are taking over, and blackberrys just aren't as popular as they once were. I also don't think that Facebook will always remain as popular as it is now. I think it will soon die down, and people just won't use it as much. Snapchat is another form of digital communication that I think will die down. It is extremely popular right now, but it will soon die down because it is not used for all good purposes, and it almost like another form of texting.
        5. Five scenarios where you should not use Digital Communication:

• When making a big announcement, for example announcing an engagement. 
• Breaking up with someone should never happen over text/call, it should always be done face to face.
• Breaking bad news to someone, for example a death. 
• You should never be using digital communication during a bad time, for example at a wake or funeral, or a wedding. 

        6. All forms of digital communication are dangerous. If used incorrect, they can all be harmful.Some people do not use digital communication in the way it is made for, which is very dangerous and harmful. People do not know how serious something they do over digital communication can be.

        7. I think people will continue to be more and more connected, because technology is only going to improve and become bigger and better.

        8.If a person dies, or becomes to sick or injured to communicate or for any other reason to avoid digital communication, I think that their records of online activity should not be touched. I think it should be left alone, because sometimes friends and family like looking at old pictures or messages between one another, to bring back the good memories of that person.

PicMonkey The app I chose was "PicMonkey."In this app you pick a picture you would like to edit and edit it. There is lots of different effects and things to choose from to edit your picture. This app would be helpful because if you didn't like the way your picture looked originally, you could make changes to it with PicMonkey. Facebook Messenger The next app I chose was Facebook Messenger. In this app you can talk to your Facebook friends without having to log onto Facebook. You can also put your cell phone number in so people who have your number know you have messenger.This would be helpful because you can communicate with your friends very easily.

Plan of action

1.Rule of thirds: I have to put 3 lines on the camera and put the object im taking a photo of in the center section. 2.Fill the frame:You have to get a close up shot on an object. It has to take up the entire frame. 3.Framing: I have to let the area show aroung the object im taking the photo of. 4.Level horizon: I have to take the photo with my camera being level, like the horizon. 5.Point of view: I have to take pictures with only a portion of what it is im taking the photo of in my shot. I take the pictures at different angles from the ground or from different postions.

Selecting a digital camera!!

  I want a digital camera for recreational use, and to capture the occasional beautiful snapshot, for things like wildlife. I'd also like to take picture of my family. It has to be compact enough to travel with, not a large camera. 

    My choice for a compact digital camera was the Sony Cyber-shot DSC RX100 II. I feel like this was the best camera for me because it isn't overly complicated to use, doesn't have a bad glare when taking pictures in bright light. The picture it takes also have a high resolution, are bright and saturated. It also has an electric viewfinder and a microphone for taking videos.

     The camera received a 9 on image quality, an 8 on performance and a 8.2 overall. The review says that the zooming lens is quiet, but the camera's slightly slippery body doesn't have a good grip. If you overlook that, you are left with a good camera.

     The prices for the Cyber-shot vary with different retailers, with the most expensive being Amazon at $749.10, with Henry's and Best Buy being $649.99. This is regular price, so buying from Amazon would cost more. So the camera is not as expensive as other cameras with the same features.

Camera Techniques

The Rule of Thirds

             I think this camera technique is important because it help make the picture look better. Two things I learned is that when you take a picture instead of putting the main thing in the middle of the picture you can put it to the right or left to make it look better. The part I like the best is when he moves the camera to the right to make the picture look better.

 Fill the Frame  

          I think this camera technique is important because when you take a picture of a small object, there tends to be a lot of space left, which can be distracting, however when taking the picture closer to the object, it leaves less space, allowing people to focus on the object and not the left over space. Something I learned, was that a very common mistake people make when taking pictures, is taking a picture from too far away.  Another thing I learned was that the closer you get to the picture, the clearer the tiny details get. 

Framing  

          I think this camera technique is important because it adds more detail. and helps the main focus of the picture stand out. One thing that I learned was that there doesn't have to be full frames on a picture, there can just be "partial frames". However, what confused me was how to know when should you use a partial frame.

Point of View 

       I think this camera technique is important because a picture could look horrible from one angle, but great from a different angle.  I learned how different something can look just by angling the camera differently. I also learned that there are many different ways to angle the camera, which leaves you many different forms of a picture, of the same object.  

 

Level Horizon 

            I think this technique is important, because if the camera is not level, your photo can be crooked. You can have the perfect picture...except its just a little sideways! I learned that there is a "function" button on some cameras, and it can help you level your photo.

With cyber bullying, some people watch the people get bullied, while others do the bullying. Cyber bullying can go from one extreme to the next, it can go from a fight with 2 friends to a suicide.It is important to be an up stander rather than a bystander because you can stop the bullying because bullying can lead to some serious stuff.

Privacy on the internet

The graphic novel taught me that anything that I post online can be used against me, or can be found by anyone, even the general public, even if I delete it. If you make bad decisions, like tweet things about people or something like that, anybody can see it, if you don't use proper privacy settings. Also, always make sure that you know where your phone is when your in public places, and keep a secure password on your device. If your phone was stolen and you DID have a secure password, there would be much less of a chance that people

Privacy Everyday:

We also read an article called "My Privacy Everyday" it showed how many times in a day someone is recorded doing something digitally and how pretty much everything you do leaves a digital footprint.Like being able to access all that information using video games.

Journal entry #6 the dark web

After watching the documentary I learned that people are watching you and that they can track you off your WiFi signal. I found shocking about this video is how there is a drug market on line that people can buy drugs on the internet. I'd like to know more about how are they tracking you and more about bitcoin and how it works. I wonderd how they could be alloowed to ship drugs to you. How would they be allowed on planes and trucks to be shiped?

"Are We Digital Dummies? - Journal Entry #7"

After watching the documentary I learned that stress can shrink your brain and that most people watch 9 hours of t or on social media and only 1 hour or studying or reading. I find surprising about the video is how many people have a black berry. I'd like to know more about how people get so addicted to using there phone.Also the documentary talks about how cell phones and social media and video games are taking over the world. People are so addicted to there phones that it can cause accident.      

Reflections on my Digital Life

Digital Media

       I can relate to most of these questions. I have experienced probably 3/4 of these statistic's i was in a car when somebody was driving and texting, I sleep with my phone charging beside me at night. I probably send 100 texts a day. I use my cell phone the most because I allways have it with me i use it to check facebook, to play games and to text and call people. I dont watch tv that much because my phone has all the shows I can watch on tv on netflix.


The Digital World

       There are many up's and down's to living in a digital world. Some up's are, you can communicate with people and family form anywhere in the world. One big downside to living in a digital world is the cyber billying. People dont want to go to school because of the hatefull coments and messages on social media. A lot of kids commited suiside because of cyber bullying.

Journal entry #5 Mr.Savoy presentation

Mr. Savoy told us about new technology, he told us about incidents that have happend around the province. He told us about people that made fake facebook accounts using real peoples names and made fun of them and other people saw what they put on facebook. He said that its illeagle to make fake accounts using fake names or using sombody elese name. one person was charged for using a false account and out in big trouble. over all the presentation was very interesting and tought us alot about the rules of the internet


I picked this video because its a prime example of cyber bullying and what it does to others.

There where alot of interesting things in this documentry. I never knew that facebook accounts could be hacked that easily. I learned that alot of bullying goes on on facebook and socal media alot. I found Jims story very interesting I thought he would of found more about his family history in archives then what he did. I wonderd why all the people came to girls party, I know she invited them but if they never knew who she was why would they come to her party.

I consider my self a gamer. I play games alot at home with my friends online. Im a gamer because I get all the new games when they come out I play games alot when im board. I own a playstation 4 and a playstation 3 I play most of my games on my Playststion 4 and some on my cell phone. My favorite Games are first person shooters like call of duty and grand theft auto I play games about 2hrs a day. I liked how easy sploder is to use any body could use it and create a very good game. I used the retro acrade because it is like old mario games and they are very fun. There wasnt anything challenging about this website. I could see my self doing this again if I were board.
